On Saturday 9 May Fiona Grahame, author of The Gardeners of Orkney will give an illustrated talk about her research into her latest book.

The event starts at 7pm in The Friends Room, St Magnus Centre, Palace Road, Kirkwall.

The Gardeners of Orkney traces the lives of some of the men (and 1 woman) who were employed in gardeners across the islands during the age of Queen Victoria (1837 – 1901).

The talk is free and open to the public. There will be a limited number of books on sale. The Gardeners of Orkney (1837 – 1901) is available worldwide and can be purchased locally, including at Stromness Books and Prints.
