A cloudy start with a few light showers, brighter conditions reaching Shetland by mid morning and cloud breaking for Orkney soon after. Dry and bright with sunny spells during the afternoon, feeling cooler despite light winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Dry with some evening sunshine, turning cloudier at times during the night and a gentle northerly wind building, perhaps some patchy rain reaching Orkney by dawn. Quite a cool night. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Sunday 26 April :

A bright start for Shetland but cloudier with some light rain at first for Orkney. turning into a wet afternoon with showery rain. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

A cloudy and damp start to the the new week but conditions improving on Monday. Light winds and a mix of cloud and brighter spells continuing towards mid week.
