On 7 May 2026 the electors of Orkney elected MSPs to represent them in the Scottish Parliament: 1 for the Constituency and 7 for the Highlands and Islands Region.
All MSPs have the same voting rights in the Scottish Parliament and the following 8 listed below were elected by you in Orkney and represent you and our islands whether or not you voted for them.
These 8 MSPs have been elected to represent the people and interests of Orkney. If you wish to contact them with an issue of importance to you here is how to do it (this may change as more details come in as some were newly elected.)

Everyone in Scotland is represented by 8 MSPs. One is a constituency MSP and the other 7 are regional MSPs. If you don’t know which MSPs represent you check it out on the Scottish Parliament website.
All MSPs will be sworn in before they can take their seats in The Scottish Parliament. They will then elect a Presiding Officer, and two Deputy Presiding Officers. (Thursday 14 May).
It is usual for the largest party in The Scottish Parliament to form the Scottish Government – in this case the SNP. The First Minister (who leads the Scottish Government) is elected by the new MSPs in the Scottish Parliament. They will vote for one MSP that they think should be the First Minister. In every previous election, the winner has been the leader of the biggest party.
