A bright, but rather cool day with some good spells of sunshine and a few showers around, more especially across Orkney. Light and variable winds, becoming more northerly this afternoon. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Some late sunny spells, then clear spells overnight, with showers. The showers, especially across Orkney, becoming more frequent and occasionally heavy through the early hours. Strengthening northerly winds. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Thursday 14 May :

A breezy and rather cold day with sunny spells and showers, most frequent and occasionally heavy across Orkney in the morning. Strong northerly winds, risk of gales for Shetland later. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Sunny spells and showers Friday, northerly winds easing. Risk of the odd shower Saturday but mainly dry and bright. Sunday, Orkney rather cloudy with some rain, Shetland dry and bright.
