Here at The Orkney News we have followed the development and future plans for the site of HMS Tern, (RNAS Twatt aerodrome), in the West Mainland. We’ve taken excellent guided tours of the site (including two by Andy Hollinrake) and learned about the people who once served there during World War 2.
On Sunday 17 May, Orkney Vintage Club took in HMS Tern, on its road run which included classic cars, motorbikes, and commercial vehicles.

The vehicles arrived at the site at about 1pm and 100 people then enjoyed tours of HMS Tern and were able to visit the inside displays.

Lindsay Bailey, site Manager for HMS Tern, expressed her delight at the visit.
