This was my first visit to The Daily Scoop, Kirkwall, since it was taken over by new management.

Despite the weather outside being most unseasonal with several heavy downpours of rain there was a constant stream of people coming in for ice creams. These customers were visitors and locals.

I ordered the soup : carrot and coriander – which is served with warm crusty bread. I also had Earl Grey tea.

Service was polite, efficient and very pleasant. Tables which were vacated were quickly cleared and cleaned.

Dogs are welcome in The Daily Scoop, one of several establishments in Orkney where owners no longer have to wait outside while their partner orders.

So a welcome return to this popular cafe – well done to all the staff involved.
