It’s been well documented that the President of the US, Donald J. Trump, enjoys drawing. From greeting cards to maps of the world, the crayons are out.
One example was his birthday card to his friend the sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein. But recently the President has taken to redrawing the map of the world by naming parts of it ‘America’.
Firstly there was the Gulf of Mexico rebranded, ‘Gulf of America’, and more recently Lake Ontario scribbled out to make way for ‘Lake America’. In any sane world this use of crayons by an octogenarian would be ignored but sadly this is not a sane world. Google and Apple (in the US) have gone with this change.
A move which completely devalues their sites and the reliability of information on them. Into the frame comes a site which was created in 1996, MapQuest – the first commercial web mapping service.
The company offers a free mobile app for Android and iOS that features POI search, voice-guided navigation, real-time traffic and other features. MapQuest also offers a mobile-friendly website.
With Google Maps and Apple no longer able to provide accurate information MapQuest provides the alternative.
