If you’ve ever stood in silence in the Italian Chapel and tried to imagine the ingenuity behind it – two Nissen huts, scrap metal, brass fittings from the Scapa Flow block ships – you’ll understand why Scottish crime author John MacDonald made it the heart of his new novel.

Murder at the Italian Chapel is the latest in his Dino Moretti series, and MacDonald is bringing it home to Orkney. He’ll be at Orkney Library and Archive, Kirkwall, on Tuesday 15 September at 6.30pm for a reader event and discussion.
