Scottish salmon competes in the European marketplace with Norway, which has no disruption to its exports to EU countries. Norway is not in the EU but it is in the EEA (European Economic Area) giving it free access to the markets of the 27 EU countries.

The National Farmer’s Union (NFU) of Scotland has warned that crofters and farmers are scaling back production due to the increasing costs they are facing in fertiliser, fuel, energy, animal feed and wages.
Fuel, feed and fertiliser costs are threatening “the very viability of many farms” commented Liam McArthur.
Several payments delivered in Scotland to people requiring financial support are to be increased by the Scottish Government from 1st April.
