Aker and Petrofac have issued redundancy notices and begun a consultation period on terminating and re-engaging all workers. A thirty day (Aker) and forty-five day (Petrofac) consultation period will begin respectively for both companies.

Workers have voted overwhelmingly for industrial action on the Elgin-Franklin, Shetland Gas Plant, North Alwyn and Dunbar platforms.
“Thousands of Unite members in the offshore sector have sent the OCA employers a clear message through these industrial action ballots.”
Shell will return to a rota of 2/3 from May 2019 after a consultation engaging the workforce including Unite representatives
