The Orkney Vole
We Orkney Voles, despite our name, are ferryloupers. We only arrived here in the islands about 5100 years ago with some early humans. Both our ability to sneak and our distinctive whiskers seem to have been inherited from Belgian forebears.
In appearance we have been compared rather unkindly to the rather common vole. Their inferior status is shown by being smaller than we are and our fine pale fur is considered distinctive. Thank you for noticing.
