Orkney Men’s Shed Celebrates in the ‘New’ Shed

By Nick Morrison

This was the first AGM in the “new” shed in Finstown attended by over 20 folk.

Morgan Harcus in his chairman’s report gave a thumbnail sketch of the 2 years at  times highly frustrating efforts to get to this position. He was also fulsome in his thanks to VAO

for their long and continuing assistance and particularly to Edwina Lloyd who was there on the night. He also paid tribute to the many Orcadian businesses and organisations which have assisted The Mens Shed and continue to do so

The Mens Shed is looking for projects which they will do “for a donation” some have already been completed. An interesting one under contemplation will be the building/rebuilding of a wheel for a Model T Ford, another is to be a shed for The Blue Door.

There are now over 90 members. Membership is free, entrance requirements– “still breathing and over 18”

The social room is now well advanced merely requiring a peedie bit o paint.

Thursday evening seems to be turning into the social evening with Tuesday day being mainly projects.

There is ample parking in the Finstown car park with limited disabled parking alongside the shed.
