Orkney Men’s Shed: Blue Door Project

By Nick Morrison

Orkney Men’s Shed is progressing well with its Blue door project.

There are now 4 walls and the floor. Here Peter is assembling one of the doors beautifully cut mortise and tenon construction and Alan is wrestling with waterproof membrane.

The membrane is held in place by light battens with the shiplap boarding to provide a stout weather resistant and good looking finish.

The shed frame is standard carcass work Stirling board on 2 X 3’s.

There were a good 1/2 doz men working on this today.
