What could be better than freshly baked cheese scones – well perhaps a bacon roll?

Lifestyles Services, St Colms Cafe, is the place on a Friday to test this out. Or you could try some of the other delicious offerings they have.

All the food is freshly made on the premises.

Table service means you don’t have to worry about juggling with a tray. A tick menu leaflet is on the table and you simply select what you would like. This is then efficiently collected by the waiting staff who deliver it to the kitchen.

I had the cheese scone (butter and jam available on the table)  and a coffee. Helen, the Orkney News Recipe Queen,  had the bacon roll. We weren’t sharing so I cannot compare but I can state that the cheese scone was excellent – just enough cheese – and Helen scoffed her bacon roll.

The cafe is open every Friday from 10am – 11.30am and is situated just behind the Glaitness School. Also on show were some of the excellent products that are made in the workshop.

This popular cafe is certainly one to check out.
