It seems that no sooner had we generated some usable space when we delivered the Blue Door’s shed than we filled it up again with the insulation donated by Robertsons.
However we stood to, up to and including weekend work gangs and it is now all but finished. What a difference it has made to the workshop. Giving it a spaceship feel as one sheder put it.

And smaller projects!
Combined with our new “scrap wood, sawdust and offcuts” burning stove we now have a balmy 12C instead of the about 3C we had previously.
It was a smart move of the committee to build a social area entirely divorced from the workshop. It gets nice and toasty in there. Another important use of the social area is that it is dust free so sheders with lung conditions are not bothered by the dust.
We are open Tuesdays from 10.00 to 16.00 hrs and on Thursdays 10.00 to 20.00 hrs.
Tuesdays are about 85 % DIY and 15% Social and Thursdays are the reverse, always a brew to be had.
Orkney Men’s Shed is in Finstown. You can find out more on their Facebook page.
