Situated in the centre of Kirkwall, Cafelolz in The Strynd, is a small but very charming place to eat.
This very busy cafe has friendly, polite staff serving freshly made food.
Example lunch for two which we had:
Triple toastie – with mozzarella, pesto & tomatoes
Panini – with haggis filling
Both of the above served with a small side salad
Tray bake – Jammie dodger slice
Can of Irn Bru
Black Coffee
Total price: £20.25
I would quibble about the size of the plates which were small for the toastie and panini, making it tricky to attack with cutlery.
There is a specials board which we did not notice until we had ordered but it looked good with 2 kinds of soups and other goodies. There are menu options for children.
Cafelolz was also doing a very good trade in take away coffees, soups and scones purchased by regulars and visitors.
The main feature was the excellent attention by staff, who despite Cafelolz being extremely busy the day it was reviewed, remained polite and capable throughout.
The cakes looked amazing but I can only review what was tasted.
