Empowering Orkney’s Young People

Independent charity Crimestoppers youth programme fearless.org visited Orkney last week to share information about the charity’s unique anonymous service.Keeping Orkney Safe and Beautiful for Everyone

Staff from the charity hosted a range of community presentations across the three days, including Train the Trainer sessions for professionals working with young people living on the islands.

Fearless.org is a site where young people can access non-judgmental information and advice about crime and criminality with a safe place to give information about crime100% anonymously.

With the support of the local PSYV group and Guidance staff from Kirkwall Grammar School and Stromness Academy, all young people will be learning more about the vital service that Fearless provides over the coming weeks.

Lyndsay McDade, Crimestoppers Scotland’s Senior Youth Projects Officer, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted by the response from young people and professionals working in Orkney. Every Fearless session I delivered was at capacity and received such positive feedback.

“Thank you to each of our new Orcadian partners for your support and enthusiasm.

“I’m confident that by working together we can successfully make young people in Orkney feel more empowered to speak up 100% anonymously to our charity fearless.org; making their community safer and stronger for everyone.”
