Face Coverings to be Worn in Secondary Schools

From the 31st of August face coverings/masks are to be worn in Scotland’s secondary schools.

This will not apply in classrooms but is for corridors and communal areas.

It will also apply to school transport for children aged 5 and over.

The Scottish Government updated guidance to schools follows on from public health and World Health Organisation advice.

There will be some exemptions but for most the advice is face coverings/masks are to be worn:

  • in secondary schools, by adults and all pupils moving around the school, such as in corridors and communal areas where physical distancing is difficult to maintain
  • on dedicated school transport by all children aged five and over, bringing it into line with guidance for public transport

Today, 25th of August, Scotland continued to see a rise in positive tests for Covid19 with 66 new confirmed cases.
