Orkney & Shetland Record New Cases of #Covid19

Today, 19th of September 2020, 350 new cases of the virus Covid19 were reported in Scotland. Sadly there were also 3 deaths of people who had tested positive.

Orkney and Shetland have also recorded new cases with 2 more in Orkney (total 19) and 3 more in Shetland (total 60). The Western Isles also recorded a new case only 3 days ago bringing their total to 10. The Western Isles is still the only Health Board which has recorded no deaths due to Covid.

The increasing and rapid spread of the virus led the FM Nicola Sturgeon to warn of more measures which may need to be taken if this trend continues. Scotland’s #Covid Amber Alert Warning

This is deeply worrying considering the sacrifices so many people have made and how much local businesses have done to keep their staff and the public safe.

If more people are taken seriously ill due to Covid it will affect the opening up of other NHS services causing delays to patients.
