An event which will celebrate diversity and tolerance will be held on Saturday 28th of August on the Kirk Green, Kirkwall.
Music and readings of poetry and prose will take place at the picnic on the Green outside St Magnus Cathedral from 12 noon.

Commenting Tomas, from the organising group Orkney Oot Wae Racism said:
“As one of the very few people in Orkney from a Latino background I have been more than welcome into the community.
“However, from time to time it becomes clear that we have to send a message that whoever and whatever your colour, creed or sexuality you are welcome by the vast majority of Orcadians. “
The event is suitable for all ages and campaigner George Vickers ecnouraged people to bring along banners and placards.
George said:
“Bring a reading or a song you can share and food for your picnic, the forecast currently looks good for the weekend.
” There will be blether and food.”
