30 New #Covid Cases in Orkney

The cumulative total of Covid cases in Orkney is now at 673 as 30 new positive tests were recorded in the Health Board area.

From 28th of October to 3rd of November 2021 the number of positive cases recorded in Orkney was as follows:

  • West Mainland: 13
  • Stromness, Sandwick, Stenness: 19
  • East Mainland: 30
  • North Isles, Linked South Isles, Hoy, Flotta, Graemsay: 28

The stats for Scotland published on 6th November 2021 are as follows:

  • 3,249 new cases of COVID-19 reported
  • 39,152 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
    • 8.7% of these were positive
  • 24 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
  • 55 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
  • 823 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
  • 4,321,350 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,914,397 have received their second dose

  1. The question is….have we stopped being shocked by these figures? And if so, what does that say about where we are – and where we’re going?

  2. Is the official today’s decision re Papdale school the best one? We the public don’t know the detailed nature of the outbreak there so it is not easy to answer the question. However I cannot understand that the most “affected class P6” is only being offered PCR testing – surely the pupils and staff should be isolated as well as receiving PCR tests. Am I getting this wrong? Admittedly it is the weekend and transmission at the school is on hold for two days – though not at home or out and about – let us see what happens next week. Restrictions just seem very light touch to a possible bigger outbreak.
