The art sale at the Northlight Gallery and Hamnavoe Restaurant in Stromness at the weekend has raised an astounding £8459. All of the money raised is going to the Red Cross Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal.
DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance.
The Northlight Gallery sold 133 artworks : paintings, prints, photographs, ceramics and glass. The Northlight raised £6314 and The Hamnavoe Restaurant £2145.
Some of the remaining artworks, books and other miscellaneous objects are going to be sold for the Ukraine Appeal in Plainstones, Ingirid Morrison’s charity shop in what was the Stromness OTE shop. Ingirid has already sold her first item for £45 and her sale for the Ukraine Appeal doesn’t really start until Wednesday.
With permission of the donors some work is going to the Red Cross Shop to benefit their various charitable purposes.
