   We won’t be coming to the wake as, due to health difficulties, I haven’t gone anywhere indoors where there will be unknown people since March 2020 – apart from medical necessities.

   Otherwise, we would have liked to come along to give Nick a good send-off. We didn’t know him particularly well, but knew about him building a house of straw and roofing it with grass and contributing to Orkney life in many other positive ways. An all-round good egg.

   Though we won’t be able to there we will raise a glass to him and wish him, and his family, well.
