Shetland dry and bright this morning then turning cloudier in the afternoon with some showery rain. Orkney mainly cloudy with some showery rain, some heavy, but it could brighten up later. Fresh to strong east to southeast breeze. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Perhaps a little early evening sunshine for parts of Orkney, otherwise a cloudy evening and night with further showers, and turning misty at times too. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Thursday 8th September:

Orkney staying cloudy with occasional showers. A cloudy start for Shetland but brightening up with some sunshine. Moderate easterly breeze. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

A big change in the weather for Friday and Saturday, becoming dry with bright or sunny spells and light winds. Perhaps some rain on Sunday.
