A mainly dry day with some bright or sunny spells but generally quite a lot of cloud around. One or two showers are possible, especially for Orkney, during the afternoon. Light winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
One or two early clear spells but generally a dry but cloudy evening. Outbreaks of rain develop overnight, these becoming more persistent across Orkney towards dawn. Strengthening southerly winds. Minimum temperature 9 °C.
Friday 30th September:
Wet and windy through much of Friday with some heavy rain and gale or severe gale southerly winds. Brighter, showery conditions reach Orkney in late afternoon and Shetland in evening. Maximum temperature 13 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Brief sunny spells and heavy, perhaps thundery, blustery showers Saturday. Showery morning Sunday with strong westerly winds but the afternoon looks drier. Then mainly dry Monday with winds turning southerly.
