An updated FLOOD ALERT has been issued for Orkney.

This Flood Alert is for coastal flooding.

Some coastal flooding issues are likely in the next few days due to a combination of high astronomical tides and stormy weather. The most likely impacts are flooding to low-lying land and roads but some property flooding could occur.

In areas exposed to the strong winds, impacts from wave overtopping are also possible. The time of highest risk is likely to be periods of high tide on Sunday at approximately 09:50 and later again at 21:50 (times based on Rapness). The greatest risk looks to be the Sunday evening tide.

SEPA will continue to monitor the situation and further updates will appear here if the situation changes.

Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.  Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188.  This FLOOD ALERT UPDATE is now in force until further notice.  If you haven’t already signed up to receive free flood messages, please call Floodline or register online at sepa.org.uk/floodingsignup.
