The weekly update from the National Records of Scotland on deaths involving Covid published 20th of October 2022 is as follows:
- As of 16th October 2022, there have been a total of 15,869 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.
- In week 41 there were 52 deaths involving COVID-19 (16 more than the previous week).
- The provisional total number of all deaths registered in Scotland in week 41 of 2022 (10th to 16th October) was 1,246 (104 or 9% above the 5-year average).
In more detail:
- Age 45 – 64: 8 deaths, 5 F, 3 M
- Age 65 – 74: 10 deaths, 1 F, 9 M
- Age 75 – 84: 18 deaths, 8 F, 10 M
- Age 85+ : 16 deaths, 9 F, 7 M
There were 7 deaths in Care Homes; 2 at Home/Non Institutional setting; and 43 in Hosptial.
Deaths due to all causes for the week 10th to 16th of October : 1,246. There was an excess of 104 deaths, or 9%
Of the 52 deaths which involved Covid – in 39 Covid was the underlying cause.

There have been 205,394 deaths involving Covid in the UK since the pandemic began.
