This alert is for coastal flooding. Due to a combination of high tides and strong winds, there is a risk of flooding from still water level, waves and spray overtopping to low lying coastal areas on Sunday 8th.

A combination of high tides and strong southerly winds means that there is a high risk of wave overtopping and hazardous conditions at the Churchill Barriers. Road closures are possible around the time of high tide which is between 11:00 and 13:00 [GMT] on Sunday 8th January. Any low-lying coastal roads and properties across the island exposed to the prevailing wind may be subject to wave and spray impacts. Flooding impacts are expected around the time of high tide, which is between 10:00 and 12:00 [GMT] on Sunday 8th January.

A combination of high tides and prevailing weather conditions means that flooding from the sea is expected to affect low lying land, roads and properties in Hoy and Longhope. Low lying roads and properties could be at risk between Longhope and Myre Bay. Flooding impacts are expected around the time of high tide at 10:00 [GMT] on Sunday 8th January.
