Dear Orkney News,
A recent programme by the Fully Charged Show featured Janus Trucks in Australia which removes diesel drivetrains from large trucks, replacing them with an electric alternative.
The idea of taking an older vehicle which is close to needing an engine overhaul or replacement with an electric drivetrain is to my mind an excellent example of reduce, reuse and ultimately recycle. Their are countless trucks and plant machinery that are decades old but still operational that would benefit from this approach, with the owners and wider society benefitting from the cleaner and quieter operation electric motors provide.
Yours, Jon Southerington, Blairgowrie
