Cloudy skies and early rain clear to showers through the morning. Showers clear, leaving Orkney dry from mid-afternoon and Shetland dry from late evening. Strong southeasterly winds turn southwesterly gale force at times from morning. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Tonight:
Early showers soon clear Shetland leaving clear spells and dry conditions for most places. Further showers spread north across Orkney towards morning. Strong southwest winds gradually ease and turn southeast. Minimum temperature 4 °C.
Thursday 23rd March:
Bands of showers will be interspersed with dry and bright periods as fresh southeasterly winds continue throughout the day. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Sunny spells and showers Friday, some heavy, these becoming increasingly wintry in northerly winds Saturday and Sunday.
