National Records of Scotland publication of death on 30th March 2023 is as follows:
- As of 26th March 2023, there have been a total of 17,138 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.
- In week 12 there were 71 deaths involving COVID-19 (15 more than the previous week).
- The provisional total number of deaths registered in Scotland in week 12 of 2023 (20th to 26th March) was 1,370 (219 or 19% above the 5-year average).

Those figures in more detail:
Age 45 -64: 6 deaths, 2 female, 4 male
Age 65 – 74: 11 deaths, 4 female, 7 male
Age 75 – 84: 23 deaths, 10 female, 13 male
Age 85+ : 31 deaths, 16 female, 15 male
There were 8 deaths in a Care Home, 8 at Home/Non Institutional setting and 55 deaths in Hospital.
There were 1,370 deaths due to all causes an excess of 219 deaths taken over a 5 year average.
Of the 71 deaths involving Covid, Covid was the underlying cause in 56 of them.
Excess deaths were recorded across all categories as follows:
Cancer: 14, Dementia/Alzheimer’s: 30, Circulatory: 37, Respiratory: 8, and Other Causes: 106.
