2024 will be the last year of excavations at the Ness of Brodgar site in the Heart of Neolithic Orkney.
If you have never visited, or haven’t for a while, be sure to get there this year or next. It never ceases to amaze all those who view it and of the skill of the Neolithic builders.
At work throughout this summer are many, many volunteers, students and professional archaeologists.
And Trench T is looking very interesting indeed – that’s a bit of an understatement really.

On a visit don’t forget to look around at the surrounding landscape – setting the site within the wider context of what was a massive Neolithic settlement area of villages and monumental structures of standing stones and tombs.
