SEPA Flood Warnings: Kirkwall & Barriers

A FLOOD WARNING update has been issued for Kirkwall.

The prevailing weather forecast, along with high tides and large waves, means that flooding from the sea is expected on both sides of Friday 13th October’s evening high tides (these will occur around 22.45 BST). Gale Force north-westerly winds also mean that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris is expected to affect the low-lying parts of Kirkwall.

Gale Force north-westerly winds and high waves (0.7m) means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris is expected to affect low lying parts of Kirkwall during Friday evenings high tides (22.45 BST). The forecasted tidal level during high tide is predicted to be 1.840 mAOD

A FLOOD WARNING update has been issued for Churchill Barriers.

The prevailing weather forecast, along with high tides and large waves means that flooding from the sea is expected just before this evening’s (Friday 13th October) high tides (which are at 21.45 BST). Gale Force north-westerly winds also means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of Churchill Barrier 2 west for a short period of time
