Frequent snow showers, very cold and windy.

Today 15th January:

Frequent snow and hail showers interspersed with the occasional bright spell throughout the day. Very cold and windy with fresh to strong north or northwest winds. Maximum temperature 2 °C.

Tonight:

Frequent snow showers continue through the night. It will remain very cold but the fresh to strong north or northwest wind will ease and turn more west from late evening. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Tuesday 16th January:

Frequent snow showers continue, becoming persistent for a time over Orkney. Very cold with a fresh northwest wind. Maximum temperature 1 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Very cold with frequent snow showers and a fresh to strong northwest wind until Friday afternoon when the wind turns southwest, the snow showers clear and conditions becomes less cold.
