Norway, along with the other Nordic Countries, of Sweden, Denmark, Finland & Iceland all have high standards of living. They are good places to live, work & bring up families.

The people of Denmark are reputed to be the happiest in the world.

These Countries are also highly successful, enjoying good levels of economic growth. They have high wage levels, with high taxation along with excellent public services in education, health, transport & social services where everything works.

Loganair run weekly flights between  Kirkwall & Bergen, during the summer, making this Orkney’s only direct international flight.

It is also possible to travel to Norway & other Nordic Countries from Aberdeen, Edinburgh & Glasgow.

ONFA was founded in 1978.

The Association is keen to welcome newer, preferably younger members, who may wish to participate in ONFA Activities.

Meetings & Social Evenings are held monthly, in Kirkwall, Stromness  & sometimes elsewhere in the Mainland or the Outer Islands.

The Annual 17 th  of May activities on Norway’s Constitution Day, the colourful Parade with Flags and the Tree Lighting weekend events in early December have been annual highlights on the Orkney Calendar for many years.
