a small group of bulbs peeping through in a rockery

In the centre of Kirkwall there are signs of Spring as bulbs flower and there’s the prospect of more to come with their shoots peeping through.

A walk round Tankerness House Gardens is always a relaxing pleasure. Cross the road and the St Magnus Cathedral Kirkyard has snowdrops in abundance and signs of more Spring bulbs yet to come.

Last year, members of the John Rae Society planted bulbs on the anniversary of his birthday.
