The prevailing weather forecast, along with high tides and large waves means that flooding from the sea is expected. Strong south easterly winds also mean that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Churchill Barriers. To find out if the road and causeway are closed, please follow the Orkney Islands Council Twitter feed https://twitter.com/OIC_Roads.

The highest risk is either side of the high tide, which will occur on Sunday 10th March 2024 at 10:30 GMT.
