Cloud and rain, heavy for a time, clears east through the late morning. Then sunny spells with scattered showers, these heavy and blustery at times. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Scattered showers through the evening, becoming less frequent for a time around midnight. Becoming cloudier with outbreaks of rain and strengthening southerly winds through the early hours. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday 21st December:

Very windy with showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times. Severe gales, perhaps storm force winds across Orkney. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Scattered showers or longer spells of rain and strong northwest winds Sunday, severe gales at first. Lighter winds on Monday, mostly dry, rain later. Mild, cloudy and windy on Tuesday.
