The pop-up gallery is set to return to Lerwick later this month, bringing together artists, makers, and campaigners from across Shetland in support of Medical Aid for Palestine (MAP).

The temporary gallery will open in the former post office and stationery shop in the Toll Clock Shopping Centre, Shetland, from Saturday 31st May to Saturday 7th June, running daily from 9am to 5.30pm, and will be staffed by local artists, and members of Palestinian Solidarity Shetland.
This is the second time the initiative has taken place, following a successful event last March which raised over £10,000. The organisers hope to build on that momentum, and raise more money to help support people suffering from the conflict in Gaza.
“Money raised from the pop-up will help MAP with establishing pop-up hospitals, and we know there is a great need of prosthetics as so many surviving children have lost limbs,” said a spokesperson for the group.
“The need for help is greater than ever.”
Donations can take many forms, from a painting or a hand-knitted hat, to home baking or a handmade bag, and all are welcome, so long as the item has been made by hand. Contributions can be dropped off at the gallery space on Friday 30th May between 10am and 5pm, or by arrangement. Anyone with questions or wishing to offer a donation can contact Palestinian Solidarity Shetland via their Facebook page.
Palestinian Solidarity Shetland is an independent local group committed to raising awareness of the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. The group holds a weekly “Gathering for Peace” every Saturday from 2pm to 3pm outside the parliamentary offices of Alistair Carmichael MP and Beatrice Wishart MSP in Lerwick. Each week’s gathering includes a two-minute silence at 2:30pm to remember both Palestinians and Israelis affected by the conflict.
