An anti Trump demo will take place today, 17 September, in Orkney on the Kirk Green at 5.30pm.

Convicted felon and President of the US Donald Trump is on a State Visit to the UK. As the US economy sees prices rise and there’s still no publication of the Epstein Files, Trump’s ratings continue on their downward trajectory.

Protests are taking place throughout the UK.

Yesterday a giant image of Trump and convicted sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein was unrolled at Windsor Palace where Trump is due to visit King Charles III.

The victims of the sex trafficking perpetrated by Epstein and his girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell have never achieved justice against the rich and powerful men who abused and raped them. Maxwell was recently moved to a minimum security prison in Texas despite being found guilty for her part in the sex trafficking.

There is still controversy around the death of Epstein, whilst being held in prison, which was said at the time to be suicide.

A birthday folder which Epstein had of messages and cards from his friends includes a card reportedly signed by Donald Trump of the figure of a naked woman. The verse inside the image has references to shared secrets. Trump’s signature (which he denies) is placed where the woman’s pubic hair would be.  The Rt Hon. the Lord Mandelson, is also in the book of birthday messages and with a photo of himself and Epstein relaxing together. Sir Keir Starmer, the UK Labour Prime Minister, sacked Mandelson as the UK Ambassador to the US, a position the PM had appointed him to. Mandelson ‘is currently on leave of absence from the House of Lords’.

Releasing the Epstein Files was a key aim of the campaign to re-elect Donald Trump. The files are of men who hold powerful and influential positions in the US and around the world. It includes men who raped and sexually assaulted women and children.

The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, settled out of court over a sexual assault case brought by Virginia Giuffre. The amount was rumoured to be £12million. Virginia Giuffre took her own life in April after many years of campaigning on behalf of the victims.

The anti Trump demo in Orkney will include people from a wide range of organisations and individuals in peaceful protest. During his first Presidency Orkney also held protests which you can read about here:

The Orkney News has many readers in the US and we stand in solidarity with them as they face the flouting of their Constitution by Trump and his Whitehouse Podcaster appointees.
