The talk by Dr Sarah Jane Gibbon and Dan Lee is in the Birsay Community Hall on 6th June at 7:30pm

Birsay used to be a bit of a stopping-off place, now, it’s definitely a day out, and is accumulating places of interest.
The walk is free and will give participants an opportunity to learn more about these important historical sites
The team enjoyed training the children in the basics of archaeology and they contributed immensely to the excavation.
“We’ve found medieval middens and structures in most trenches.
The excavations currently taking place in Palace Village Birsay are revealing substantial walls beneath modern day paths and gardens.

On Saturday 23rd September 2017 from 11am to 3pm there will be an opportunity to drop by the Orkney Archives in Kirkwall
The dig begins on the 25th September and continues for two weeks until 6th October
