A week today, Friday 10th of July, it will be mandatory to wear a face covering/mask in all shops unless you have an underlying health condition which prevents you from doing so. Young children will also be exempt. These are the same rules that apply if you are using public transport.
It is hoped that the public will take this up in large numbers but it will be the law and enforceable by the police if people do not do so.
There are many shops in Orkney you can purchase face coverings/masks and there are folk who have turned their hand to making them.
