A FLOOD ALERT has been issued for Orkney

Flood Alert from SEPA

This is an alert for coastal flooding. There is a risk of flooding and disruption from wave and spray overtopping to low lying areas and roads during Monday and into Tuesday morning.

The risk of wave and spray overtopping in these areas remains for all Monday. The greatest risk may be at times of high tide, although high tide levels alone are not currently expected to cause any flooding impacts.

The time of high tide at Kirkwall is at approximately 11 am GMT, and 11pm GMT but varies across the area.

Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.  Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188.  This FLOOD ALERT is now in force until further notice and was sent by phone and sms free of charge to registered customers of our Floodline direct warning service.  If you haven’t already signed up to receive free flood messages, please call Floodline or register online at sepa.org.uk/floodingsignup.
