SEPA Flood Alert for Orkney

A FLOOD ALERT has been issued for Orkney.

Flooding from surface water and small, fast responding, watercourses is possible throughout Thursday and overnight into Friday. This is due to persistent, and at times heavy, rainfall. Typical flooding impacts include flooding of low lying land and roads, particularly in known trouble spots.

There is also a risk of isolated spray and wave over topping around the time of the high tides on Thursday due to large waves caused by northerly gale force winds.

Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.  Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188.  This FLOOD ALERT is now in force until further notice and was sent by phone and sms free of charge to registered customers of our Floodline direct warning service.  If you haven’t already signed up to receive free flood messages, please call Floodline or register online at sepa.org.uk/floodingsignup.
