Bright start but cloud and outbreaks of rain soon reaching Orkney and then spreading to Shetland by midday. Some brighter spells likely across Orkney this afternoon but generally remaining cloudy with a little rain at times. Freshening southerly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.
Tonight:
A few brighter spells this evening, but generally cloudy overnight with further outbreaks of mainly light rain and drizzle. Fresh southwesterly winds, strong for a time in evening over Shetland. Minimum temperature 11 °C.
Sunday 17th July:
A rather cloudy day with occasional rain, more especially across Orkney in the afternoon. Best of any brighter spells expected across Shetland through the middle of the day. Winds easing. Maximum temperature 17 °C.
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
Generally dry but rather cloudy through Monday and much of Tuesday. Increasing risk of showers later Tuesday and some heavy rain for a time Wednesday, becoming breezy, especially later Wednesday.
