NHS Orkney has two more vaccination clinics against both Flu and Covid, recognising both can be serious, even for healthy people.

If you are eligible for vaccination and have missed your appointment, or you are a household contact or carer and haven’t yet had your vaccine, please come along to one of the drop-in clinics at The Balfour below:

  • Monday 18 March 10am – 12pm
  • Monday 25 March 10am – 12pm

Covid Infection Information from Public Health Scotland, 13th March 2024.

The Number of acute COVID-19 admissions to hospital for the week ending 10th March has decreased to 80 from the previous week’s, 102.

Deaths Registered in Scotland – National Records of Scotland, 14th March 2024

The provisional total number of deaths registered in Scotland in week 10 of 2024 (4th March to 10th March) was 1,206 (141 or 10% lower than the expected number of deaths in week 10). There were 13 deaths mentioning COVID-19

Those figures in more detail:

Deaths involving Covid:

  • Age 45 – 64: 1 death, female
  • Age 65 – 74: 2 deaths, 1 female, 1 male
  • Age 75 – 84: 4 deaths, 3 female, 1 male
  • Age 85+ : 6 deaths, 2 female, 4 male

There were 13 deaths involving Covid, Covid was the main cause in 9 of them.

There were 5 Covid related deaths in Care Homes and 8 in Hospital.

There were 1,206 deaths due to all causes.
