WARNING. Flooding is expected in Churchill Barriers. Act now.

The prevailing weather forecast, along with high tides and large waves means that flooding from the sea is expected. South east winds also means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Churchill Barriers.

The highest risk is either side of the high tides, which are today Friday 5th at 23:00 BST and again on Saturday 6th at 11:45 BST

This FLOOD WARNING is now in force until further notice and was sent by email, SMS and/or phone, free of charge to registered Floodline customers.

There is also a Flood Alert for coastal flooding in Orkney.

Due to a combination of high tides, storm surge, large waves and strong winds there is a risk of flooding from waves and spray overtopping to low lying areas the Orkney coast on Friday and Saturday around times of the high tides. The greatest risk is around the time of high water, which is at midnight Friday and midday Saturday. Areas particularly at risk are the Churchill Barriers 2 East
