The St Magnus Way has become an important pilgrimage route and is popular with walkers of all kinds,
On Thursday 16 May (St Magnus Day) , at 7pm, the Virtual St Magnus Way will be launched in the St Magnus Centre, Palace Road, Kirkwall.
The event is open to all.
The Virtual St Magnus Way is a truly innovative project which allows you to experience the wonderful Orkney landscape and wildlife along the St Magnus Way from the comfort of your own home. It will also give those unable to walk the Way an opportunity to explore the route and experience pilgrimage.
The evening will centre round an audiovisual presentation of the project by Angus Ross-Thomson who has dedicated many hours of filming and editing to being this to fruition. Dr Sarah Jane Gibbon will set the scene by providing background on St Magnus and the Way while Brenda Dowie with giving an insight into how the Virtual Way fits within the concept of pilgrimage in the modern world.
The organisers are grateful to the volunteers and to the various funders who have made this project possible.
